Pension provider PGGM is the first organisation in the Netherlands to achieve a 3 Stars Very Good score in accordance with the most recent guideline for all three of the BREEAM-NL In Use rated categories.
PGGM’s mission is to provide high-quality pension services combined with attention for people, the environment and society. PGGM consequently critically reviews the impact of its own actions on the environment and society and this is reflected in the wonderful score it achieved.
PGGM entered into a partnership with Strukton Worksphere and Sodexo based on Sustainable Service Level Agreements, among other things. In addition, both partners are supporting PGGM in its desire to increase its sustainability through innovation. For example, a new type of cooling system based on Phase Changing Materials (PCM) has been implemented, and the energy consumption and comfort are continuously monitored using Strukton PULSE.
Sodexo has removed 100% of all plastics from the company restaurant and 60% of the catering products and dishes sold in the restaurant currently are sustainable and/or healthy. In addition, local products are used, for example from ‘Willem & Drees’, a distributor of locally produced vegetables. A great deal of attention is also being devoted to increasing the biodiversity on PGGM’s grounds.
Arnold Veenema, Manager Facility Management at PGGM on Monday 17 June received the coveted certificate from Rutger Schuur, Chairman of the Board of the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC).
