Since Friday 15 September, live-line work will no longer be performed. ProRail announced this good news last week.

As the client, the province of Utrecht now has one point of contact which performs all the maintenance for the regional tram infrastructure in Utrecht. Since 2014, Strukton has also been responsible for the maintenance of the current tram line in Utrecht, Nieuwegein and IJsselstein.

Maintenance plan
The contract was signed by director Marc Maathuis on behalf of Strukton on 9 October. Signing the contract on behalf of the province was Gerrit Barmentlo, the asset manager responsible for the tram. The agreement was signed for a period up to the end of 2021. Work will be performed based on the principle of cyclical maintenance. Strukton is drawing up a maintenance plan, which describes the work at both tactical and operational level.

Because this concerns a new tram lane that is still under construction, it has been agreed that the province of Utrecht and Strukton will start the preliminary work before the handover of the Uithof line, so that both parties can do the necessary maintenance work in time. During the test and trial operation for the Uithof line, all the necessary introductory actions will therefore be carried out for the maintenance of this new tram connection between Utrecht C.S. and the Uithof.
